Meet Eastwood

by Steve Bumbaugh 26. February 2009 17:29

So, as some of you already know, I ended up adopting the puppy formerly known as Lewis. He is a black border collie / retriever mix and weighs a little over 40 pounds.  He doesn't have much training, but he is house broken and is very calm.

I finally settled on the name Eastwood and want to thank everyone for their suggestions.  He is still learning his name and I don't blame him.  When he was rescued at the shelter he was named Blackie, The ADAI called him Lewis and I briefly referred to him as Shadow. So, Eastwood is at least his fourth name since November.

Even though I have only had him since last Thursday his training is coming along nicely.  It took him only a few days to master single variable calculus and he will soon be moving on to differential equations.  Also, while not exactly "legal," it turns out he is a decent driver as well; although, his color blindness and inability to read makes things like stop signs and traffic lights rather terrifying.  I let him drive me to the park Tuesday night and he chased down and ate an entire deer!  Not to shabby for a 40 pound dog!

Thanks to everyone who suggested names.  Most of them were really good or ridiculously funny.  Notable mentions that I either considered or were beyond hilarious:

  • Whore Mouth
  • Death Wolf
  • Andrés (Nocioni)
  • Dwight (Schrute)
  • The President (or Mr. President)
  • Einstein
  • Conan
  • Blood Thirst
  • Jabby Paps
  • sockman 5000

See the photos of Eastwood below.
